All you need to know about the GTX 970's memory issue

An engineer had recently increased the hopes of Nvidia GTX 970 users by announcing that they are working on a driver which would fix the annoying memory issue of GTX 970 but what every GTX 970 user will remember is that 'A little hope is effective, but a lot of hope is dangerous' as now a trouble seems to enter the Graphic world.

The engineer updated his post regarding the memory problem and said there were no measures being taken to solve the GTX 970 memory problem by developing a specific driver for the beast. The engineer also confirmed the previous stance of Nvidia that they won't be developing any driver for any specific graphic card. Their drivers will be to improve the performance or adaptation of all the Graphic Cards in the making!

The problem which the customers are facing goes like this:-
At extreme resolutions like 4K, the amount of memory required for high end graphic games is very high, almost in the order of 4 Giga Bytes. As the memory of the GTX 970 is 4GB, Nvidia opted a new method of memory allocation i.e., into 2 pools; a faster 3.5GB and a slower 512 MB. For high end graphic games at ultra settings, when the memory required goes beyond 3.5GB, users are facing slight stuttering which they term 'annoying'. For those with lower resolutions, it ain't a big problem. Any game at ultra-high, no problem!!!

Should I buy GTX 970?

There are a lot of thing to keep in mind before you decide to get it or not. For instance, if you have a monitor with 4K resolution, I'd say no! But if you are confident that your monitor on any game at ultra will not require memory more than 3.5GB, then go for it. It's a bang for your buck!
